It’s Not Too Late, But Time is Ticking!

Do you have everything in place to get the most out of your fitness career this Fall? Here are my top 3 tips to use in the next 3 weeks of August to set yourself up for 3 phenomenal months of Autumn!

The last 6 months have been a whirlwind of adaptation and resilience and all indications are that Fall 2021 will be thriving in health and fitness. If you’re like me, you not only kept serving your clients and participants as well as staying agile to respond to new opportunities that came your way. The stage is set to thrive as we close off 2021 thanks to phenomenal demand for programs and services to support physical, mental, immune, and social health. If you’ve reflected on where you spend your time, the contracts and jobs you accept, and reviewed the services you offer you are good to go! If not, don’t panic you still have time. I’m making this as quick and simple as possible with:

Top 3 tips to use in the next 3 weeks to set yourself up for 3 phenomenal months

Tip #1: Set your goals and increase your rates!

Qualified fitness professionals are in incredibly high demand. Gyms and studios are seeking coaches, instructors, and trainers to meet the increasing demand in their facilities. If we are connected, I know you’ve done work over the past 12 months to learn and grow; now it’s time to establish your value and ask for the right compensation.

Set your goals based on the hours, clients, classes, and workplaces that will bring out the best in you so that you can thrive. You are you dedicated and worthy leader in the fitness industry and you should be compensated as such. You may need to get creative in how you bring extra value i.e. contribute to marketing on social media, review your packages, drive retention, etc. but decide what you are worth and ASK for it.

**Negotiation takes practice and confidence, and many fitness pros struggle tremendously with it. You’re not alone; reach out to me if you need help**

Tip #2: Reach out to all the workplaces and clients you WANT to serve

Choose your partners! Saying YES to the right employment opportunities means saying no to others. You were likely presented oodles of opportunities over the past year; follow-up with the clients, participants, clubs, studios, business, etc. that you feel are a good fit for YOUR career goals.

This gets harder when we’re “busy” and we get offered new and fun projects that could be right in line with our goals or pull us in directions that may be profitable but not strategic. The clearer you get on your brand the easier it will be to attract the right career opportunities. Give this a quick read for 3 questions to ask yourself that will help clarify any hesitation.

Tip #3: Tap into the wellness market

Making fit people fitter is what’s kept our industry serving only about 15% of the population but we now have the perfect opportunity to grow our reach and impact further than ever before. This means we need to speak less about the bodies we sculpt, and more about the lives we save!

The sustainability of our career (and any further pandemic-proofing) requires us to shift some of our focus towards preventative health and continued wellness. It ensures we connect and serve our clients and participants in more spheres of their lives and increases our value as well as potential revenue.

Consider adding these services to your repertoire or begin by learning how to integrate them into what you already do:

  • Improved sleep
  • Healthy posture and decreased back pain
  • Nutrition and family meal planning
  • Mobility, movement, and prehab
  • Mindfulness, meditation, and breath
  • Immunity support

Your communities need you, let’s get cracking!
