Are you hoping to have a day full of energy, resilience, and positivity? Do you want to show up mindfully for your clients and classes while not draining your social battery for your loved ones?
I feel compelled to share this career productivity tip: It’s time to break up with your snooze button.
Unfortunately, for avid fans of the snooze button, science is not on your side. We’re in the habit of pressing snooze once, or sometimes 5 times, to feel more rested from our night and more energized for our day. As it turns out, sleep science demonstrates that hitting the snooze button can disrupt healthy sleep patterns and may leave you tired for the rest of the day.
As I’m sure you’ve noticed, optimizing sleep and other forms of recovery is a hot topic in health and wellness. We’re realizing that perhaps the source of feeling better, stronger, and more resilient lies in our lifestyle habits during our waking hours and the quality and quantity of our sleep.
Two reasons to break up are explained in the video:
- As the next alarm goes off in 6-10 minutes, it will never match a 90-minute sleep cycle
- It launches your day in a negative “no” mindset
Instead, choose a consistent time to wake up with or without an alarm and give your mind and body the positive energy they crave to kick off the day! This may also be a solid tip for your morning clients and class participants who seem to be dragging themselves to their workouts 😊.
